Assumed audience: People who like reading year-in-review summaries. (I always assume that’s mostly just me, a few years in the future!)
A bit of context:: For many years now, I have made it my habit to write up one of these summaries. In this case, I have tried to make it a bit more digestible by breaking into smaller chunks.
Well, here we are at the end of another year! It has been such a strangely varied one that it hardly seems a single year. I think about this often, these days: For all that years do genuinely pass more and more quickly, they nonetheless remain a very substantial block of time. A great many things happen in a year! A rather banal observation that may be, but I feel it.
As usual, I am breaking this down into a bunch of different parts focused on different parts of life — both so that you can read only the bits that are interesting to you, and so that I can actually manage to finish the various posts! This series will fill out over the next few days, with relatively brief posts (I think… probably… and emphasis on relatively, if past years are anything to go by).
The biggest challenges of the year all came down to the recurring consequences of a nasty injury I sustained late last year: a herniated disc that caused terrible back pain and sciatica off and on over the course of the year. You’ll see that appear as a recurring theme throughout, and I’ll cover it in detail in the post about my health and fitness!
